Monumental Views

Three hundred and eleven steps to the top gallery of The Monument in London, England . . .


from which one can gaze down to the former site of the baker's house in Pudding Lane where the Great London Fire started in 1666.

The Monument was designed by Sir Christopher Wren, and its height (202 feet) is identical to the distance from its base to the spot where the bakery stood.
